Six more people succumbed to Covid-19 while 27 new cases were detected in Nagaland on Monday. There were also 56 recoveries in the last 24 hours.

According to the Health and Family Welfare Department, Dimapur reported 12 fresh cases, Kohima 4, Mokokchung 3, Mon 5 and Wokha 3.

Among the 56 recoveries, Dimapur registered 19, Kohima 10, Mokokchung 9, Mon 8, Peren 7 and Phek 3.

Meanwhile, the department said 75 percent of cases reported in the last week were without any contact history, signifying high community transmission.

In its weekly bulletin report for last week, the department said many cases from self-tests are still not reported. It said 311 cases were detected between September 4 to September 10 out of 13,356 samples that were tested.

The State’s weekly sample positivity rate stood at 2.3 percent as all the districts reported a sample positivity rate of less than 5 percent in the last week while the weekly positivity rate has remained below 5 percent in the last four weeks.

Out of 60 Covid hospital admissions in the last week, Dimapur recorded the maximum cases at 34.

Stating that 70 percent of Covid deaths were males, the department attributed it to a higher prevalence of high-risk factors, more positive cases among males and possibly due to health-seeking behavior.
