Nagaland’s COVID19 tally crossed 2,000 with a single-day highest spike of 194 positive cases on Monday.
The state’s positive cases now reached 2129, out of which 1,473 are active, 648 patients recovered and four died.
“194 new +ve cases have been confirmed out of 845 samples tested,” Nagaland health minister S Pangnyu Phom said on his official Twitter handle in the afternoon.
Of the 194 new positive cases, 136 are from Dimapur, 36 from Zunheboto and 22 from Kohima, he said.
Phom said necessary contact tracing has been activated and all primary contacts are under self-isolation.
In a statement on Sunday, Phom said there was no community transmission in the state as of now as the history of contacts has been established in all cases.
He said vigorous contact tracing is being carried out and in all positive cases the source of infection has been traced.
Phom said out of the total reported mortalities, some are attributed to Covid-19 infection with multiple co-morbidities.
All the reported COVID19 death cases are presently under investigation by the Covid-19 death review committees at the district and state level, he added.
Phom said such cases will be confirmed as COVID19 death or otherwise based their report.
The directorate of health and family welfare of the state constituted a Covid19 death review committee on July 28 to review and ascertain the causes and circumstances leading to the deaths related to the pandemic.
The committee comprises a team of nine doctors with subject experts.
The directorate also asked the chief medical officer and medical superintendent of all districts to constitute district Covid19 death review committee with officers from the district health authority and subject experts from the district hospital/health centre.

India recorded more than 50,000 COVID19 positive cases for a 5th consecutive day on Monday, taking its tally way past the 1,800,000-mark.
India’s death toll now stands at 38,201.
The states that have reported the biggest 24-hour jump in the COVID19 active cases are Andhra Pradesh (2,216), Uttar Pradesh (1,986), Karnataka (1,371), Bihar (1,369), and Telangana (793).
Five most affected states by total tally of cases are Maharashtra (4,41,228), Tamil Nadu (257,613), Andhra Pradesh (1,58,764), Delhi (137,677), and Karnataka (1,34,819).
