Nagaland on Friday recorded the highest daily spike with 226 people testing positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.

There are 1,261 active cases in Nagaland at present.

State health and family welfare minister S Pangnyu Phom said of the new cases, 137 were detected in Dimapur, 74 in Kohima, 10 in Tuensang, two in Mon and one each in Peren and Zunheboto.

The total number of Covid-19 cases in Nagaland now stood at 13,976, Phom tweeted.

He added that 12 patients were discharged from different hospitals on Friday.

Of them eight are from Dimapur and two each from Kohima and Mokokchung.

In all, 12,224 people recovered from the disease in the State so far, he added.

Meanwhile, equipment for setting up three oxygen plants in Nagaland has reached Dimapur airport today.

The three oxygen plants will be set up in Dimapur, Kohima and Mokokchung.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio thanked Union defence minister Rajnath Singh for ensuring air transport of the oxygen plants.

“This will enable us to have consistent oxygen supply for effective management of #COVID case,” Rio tweeted.

Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton expressed sincere appreciation to IAF MCC Wing Commander S Akheto Jakhalu for his involvement throughout the process in ensuring that equipment for the three oxygen plants reached the state on time
