The civil societies of Tizit in Nagaland’s Mon district took out a mass protest rally on Saturday demanding the repeal of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA).
The protestors came down heavily on the central government for not tendering an apology for the killings of the civilians by security forces.
While demanding justice for the victims, the protestors warned that the people of Tizit in Nagaland would not remain silent till the security personnel, who were responsible for the killings, are not punished.

The rally at Tizit was participated by hundreds of locals to protest against the killings of civilians on December 4.
The protestors shouted slogans like ‘Amit Shah liar’ and ‘Repeal AFSPA’ during the procession.
The banners read ‘Indian troops killing innocent’, ‘We want justice’, ‘Revoke Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act’, ‘Stop state-sponsored terrorism’ and others.

The Konyak Union has also demanded an apology from Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The protest was held in a peaceful manner.
A total of 6 coal miners were killed by security forces in the Mon district on December 4.
Two other miners also sustained injuries and they are currently undergoing treatment at the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Assam’s Dibrugarh.
Meanwhile, Nagaland Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi has summoned the 10th session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly at 9.30 am on December 20 to discuss the repeal of the controversial Armed Forces (Special Power) Act (AFSPA) 1958 besides the Naga political issue.
The notification was issued after the Core Committee of the Parliamentary Committee on Naga Political issue, headed by chief minister Neiphiu Rio, on December 9 decided to call a one-day special session of the Assembly to discuss the AFSPA repeal and Naga political issue.
