The Nagaland government on Thursday declared parts of Dimapur and Kohima as containment zones for a week with effect from 7 pm of May 5 to contain and prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the State.

The State witnessed a rapid surge in Covid-19 positive cases in the last one week.

Chief Secretary J Alam, in an order, notified that the Dimapur Municipal Council, Chumukedima Town Council and colonies/villages along Dimapur-Chumukedima four lane-road under Dimapur town and Kohima Municipal Council and New Capital complex in Kohima has been declared containment zones.

The order said all activities, including the movement of persons, except the movement of goods vehicles, including vehicles carrying oxygen/ oxygen cylinders and other medical equipment, among others, will remain suspended in the containment zones during the period.

It said all healthcare facilities including animal healthcare, hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and movement of healthcare workers will function as usual.

All pharmacies, including those selling veterinary medicines, all people going for Covid-19 vaccination, COVID testing and medical emergencies will be allowed.

All officers and staff working in district administration, police, security forces, fire and emergency services, home department, medical, postal services, NIC, NSDMA, Home Guards and Civil Defence, SDRF, Power, PHED, Food and Civil Supplies, Finance, Treasury and Accounts, banks/ ATMs, IT and C, IPR, AIR and Doordarshan will also be permitted.

While construction activities and agri and allied activities have been allowed, funeral services will be limited to not more than 20 persons.

The order of all vegetable, fish/meat vendors, milk booths may remain open from 6 am to 2 pm.

All local grocery stores, including animal feed shops, for public purchase may remain open from 6 am to 2 pm.

Petrol pumps will remain open as usual while ensuring that there is no crowding.

All establishments and personnel relating to electronic and print media, telecom/ internet service providers will be allowed.

Dimapur Airport will remain open and movement of staff and passengers will be permitted.

Hotels for lodging will be allowed to remain open with minimum staff while restaurants will remain closed for in-house dining. The restaurants may, however, cater through take-away or home delivery.

Movement of all private passenger vehicles will be allowed on ‘Odd-Even system with 50 percent occupancy

Public transport vehicles, both public and private, like buses, taxis, autos, two-wheeler taxis will be allowed to ply with 50 percent occupancy with a maximum limit of 25 percent of such vehicles in the districts. The District Task Force of the respective district will lay down modalities in this regard.

The respective District Task Forces may continue with the night curfew and other restrictions in their respective jurisdictions, the order said.

All places of mass gathering will be closed, including religious places, except for the solemnization of weddings with the prior permission of the respective Deputy Commissioner across the State.
