Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday launched the online inner line permit (ILP) for tourists in Kohima.

“Happy to launch ILP for tourists to Nagaland. ILP segregates tourists and government officials of other states to promote tourism and development. Hence, a separate ILP is issued,” Rio tweeted.

Principal secretary (home) Abhijit Sinha said the present Online ILP module (www.ilp.nagaland.gov.in) is only for domestic tourists.

The home secretary said the online ILP will significantly ease the process of getting an ILP by any tourist from any part of the country who desires to visit Nagaland, particularly for the upcoming Hornbill Festival from December 1 to 10.

It is also going to be another important step in the state government’s march towards e-governance.

It will also improve the overall quality of monitoring of the implementation of the ILP regime as all the enforcement agencies concerned or the government will have access to real time information of the applicants, the number of approvals obtained, the duration of visits, the places of visit etc., Sinha said.

“If it is done in working days, the whole process will just take 5 to 10 minutes,” Sinha said.

The state home department also has plans to scale up and reinforce the online ILP module by including all other categories of ILP applicants and by providing several other online verification features in the coming days.

The module for Online ILP for Tourist has been designed and developed by the state information technology and communication department.

It has been developed as part of promoting e-governance in the state as well as for improving the implementation of the ILP regime.
