The Nagaland unit of NSUI condemned the dastardly attack on students by the ‘ABVP goons’ inside the JNU campus on Sunday evening.

Expressing deep shock and anguish at the attack, president of NSUI, Nagaland, X. Chophika Sumi, in a release, on Monday said the ABVP goons went on a rampage inside the JNU campus armed with rods, sticks and stones with their faces covered under the cover of darkness while chanting provocative slogans like “desh ke gadaron ko goli maro salon ko”, “naxalites” etc.

The ABVP goons mercilessly thrashed even the girl students.

“The attack on JNU students and faculties is an attack on the entire students of India,” Sumi said.

The NSUI unit sought to know if this is what “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” meant which Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisaged.

Expressing shock at the apathy of the Delhi police who did absolutely nothing to contain the situation, the union said it only signifies the nexus between the perpetrators and the police which is directly under the command of the Union home ministry.

The state NSUI expressed its sympathy and support to the JNU students and faculties at this hour of grief.

It also appealed to the responsible authority to fast track the case to ensure speedy justice to the victims and ensure stringent action against the perpetrators so that this type of “thuggery” does not become a precedent.
