The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on Monday decided to suspend its all forms of mass-based democratic agitations in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.
It planned the agitations to express its strong resentment against the failure of the Nagaland government to set up the Nagaland Staff Selection Board.
The federation will, however, carry out “symbolic agitation” and asked its federating units and subordinate bodies to comply with the resolution in toto, a release issued by the NSF said.
The decision to this effect was taken during the second consultative meeting of the federation with its federating units and subordinate bodies in Kohima.
The federation said its second phase agitation will commence from March 18.
It was resolved that the federating units and subordinate bodies of the federation will hoist black flags along with banners in their respective headquarters.
The units will also carry out a poster campaign in their respective jurisdictions.
The federation expressed strong resentment against the state government’s inability to materialise the NSSB despite repeated reminders and lapsed of ultimatums.
The release said the officials of the federation, as endorsed by the meeting, will continue to actively liaise with the state government in order to ensure that the collective aspirations of the Naga youths and students materialise without further delay.
The federation appealed to the state government to comply with its demand without indulging in any delay tactics.
The meeting also resolved that further inaction on the part of the state government will attract strong mass-based democratic agitation across the state, post the second phase of agitation.
In a separate development, the army recruitment rally scheduled to be held at Rangapahar military stadium, Dimapur from April 1 to April 4 has been postponed due to prevailing coronavirus threat.
Fresh dates will be intimated later, an official release said on Monday.
