The Nagaland Planning Machinery Service Association (NPMSA) on Wednesday temporarily suspended its pen down strike over its demand regarding the issue of the post of OSD (skill development).
The NPMSA has taken the decision following a written assurance from Nagaland chief secretary Temjen Toy that its demand will be taken up in the next cabinet meeting.
The association has demanded removal or expunging of the post of OSD (skill development) from the cadre post of the Nagaland Planning Machinery Service Rule, 2019.

Toy also assured that all steps will be taken to ensure that the service interests of the members of the association are not put to a disadvantageous position, NPMSA president Imlikokba Longkumer and general secretary Orenbomo Lotha said in a release.
In a letter to the president of the association on Tuesday, the chief secretary requested the association to call off its proposed pen down strike as the representation submitted by it on July 9 is under active consideration of the government.

He said the grievances of the association have been taken into account and all steps will be taken to ensure that the service interests of the members are not put to a disadvantageous position.
The association launched its three-day agitation in first phase in the form of pen down strike on Tuesday and said its phase-wise agitation will continue till its demand is met.
The association said the inclusion of the OSD in the cadre post is irrational, arbitrary and cannot be accepted as it is in violation of the judgment and order passed by the Gauhati High Court on May 20 this year.
The state planning and coordination department appointed I. Sino Phom to the post of OSD (skill development) on deputation for a period of two years in 2011.
However, the post was converted from ex-cadre post to a regular cadre post even before Phom completed her two-year tenure and she was absorbed permanently against the post with effect from December 19, 2012, it said.
