56th National Cross Country Championships 2022

Nagaland will host the 56th National Cross Country Championships 2022, said Nagaland Athletics Association president and associate vice president of Athletics Federation of India Abu Metha on Saturday.

Interacting with media persons in Kohima on Saturday, Metha announced that the state has been successful in its bid to host the championship.

He said it will be Nagaland’s first national athletic event.

The event is likely to be held in January next year in Kohima.

Metha appealed to all sections of people to support and make it an event to make Nagaland proud.

“We are all members of Team Nagaland,” he added.

Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio thanked the Athletics Federation of India for allotting the championship to Nagaland.

“Grateful to Athletics Federation of India @afiindia for allotting the 56th National Cross Country Championships 2022 to Nagaland. This will be the first-ever national athletic event to be hosted by Nagaland. We look forward to welcoming the athletics fraternity,” Rio tweeted on Saturday.

The Athletics Federation of India, on its part, thanked the chief minister for taking up the championships. “We look forward to a great event in #Nagaland,” the federation said on its Twitter handle.
