Thirteen wi-fi hotspots of Kohima set up under the Kohima Wifi City Phase 1 have been made operational on Friday.
These wi-fi hotspots include High School Area (Employment Office), PHQ Area, High School Junction Area, Kohima Village Panchayat Hall, The Heritage Area (Raj Bhavan).
The other wi-fi hotspots that have been made operational include Kohima Science College, Law College, State Indoor Stadium (TT), State Indoor Stadium (Badminton), Naga Hospital, RCEMPA, NST and Old MLA Junction.
To make use of wi-fi services at these wi-fi hotspots, one must first switch on wi-fi and then select Kohima Smart City Wifi.
One must then enter their phone numbers following which an OTP will be provided.
After entering the requisite OTP, one can then use the wi-fi services.
It may be mentioned that the Kohima Wifi City Phase-1 was launched at the e-Naga Summit held at RCEMPA, Jotsoma on November 30 last.
The endeavour is a collaborative effort of Information Technology and Communication (IT&C) and Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL).
The objective of launching Wifi hotspots under the Wifi City scheme is to fulfill the objective of making Kohima a smart city and to provide unlimited internet access to tourists and the residents of the city.
