The Nagaland government has handed over compensation to the families of those who died in firing by security forces on Saturday night. 

Ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each was handed over to the families of the Nagaland massacre victims on Monday morning. 

The compensation was reportedly handed over to the families of the victims by the deputy commissioner of Mon district in Nagaland. 

The authorities in Nagaland have clarified that a total of 13 people were killed in Saturday’s firing by security forces at Oting village in Mon district.

The authorities also said that one more civilian also lost his life in firing by Assam Rifles troopers during a violent protest at Oting in Nagaland’s Mon district on Sunday. 

So, the official civilian death toll in the Nagaland incident and related retaliation stands at 14.
