At a time when demands have been raised to remove Nagaland Governor RN Ravi as Naga peace talks interlocutor, Ravi met Union DoNER minister & MoS for PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh on Monday in Delhi.
The NSCN-IM recently came down heavily on interlocutor Ravi, alleging that he was involved in a ‘mischief’ and has become a ‘liability’.
The battle among the Naga civil society groups over whether Ravi should continue as interlocutor of the Naga talks or not reached the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
While the Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) has vehemently opposed the replacement of Ravi as interlocutor, the Naga Hoho wanted otherwise.
A Naga Hoho delegation, which met MoS for PMO Singh, asked the PMO to seriously review Nagaland Governor RN Ravi’s role as interlocutor for Naga talks.
Naga Hoho in their meeting on August 12 asked the PMO to review his role alleging that he has done more damage and created trust deficit within the Naga people and negotiators.
However, DoNER minister Dr Singh, who is also the MoS for personnel, public grievances & pensions, on his Twitter handle said they discussed various state-related issues.
“Had a fruitful meeting with Governor of Nagaland, Hon’ble Sh R N Ravi. Exchanged views on various State-related issues,” Singh tweeted.
A statement, issued by the public grievances & pensions ministry said they “discussed about the progress of developmental projects in the state”.
Union minister Singh reiterated that soon after the Modi government took over in 2014, the Prime Minister had stated that every effort would be made to bring the Northeastern region at par with the more developed regions of the country, the ministry said.
“In the last six years, not only developmental gaps were bridged successfully, but Northeastern region has also gained psychological confidence,” he added.
Singh underlined that all sections of society are ready to move under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
