There will be aggressive random testing for Covid19 and vaccination in Dimapur district till June 30.

The intensified random testing will be carried out on a war footing in crowded areas and markets.

This was decided at a coordination meeting of Team Dimapur on Covid19 in Dimapur police commissioner’s office on Wednesday.

Deliberating on the vaccination, the meeting observed that the death rate is showing a declining trend as many people have started to take the vaccine.

Acknowledging the state government for providing sufficient vaccine doses for the district, the meeting decided to request the government for more doses considering the high population in the district and as more people are coming forward for vaccination.

It was observed that 13,719 doses of the vaccine presently available in the district may not be adequate as the district will take up aggressive vaccination till June 30.

The meeting noted that the state government has taken the right decision to ban stoppage of trains at Dimapur railway station, which helped in containing the pandemic drastically.

Nodal officer for Dimapur district Y Kikheto Sema emphasised the need to continue to create awareness among the people to be disciplined and get vaccinated.

He said the war is still on as the third wave is expected between September and October as per the prediction of experts.

Sema lauded the district administration, police and the medical department for working in close coordination.

Dimapur deputy commissioner Rajesh Soundararajan said the district is now better prepared to combat the pandemic. He said the present restrictions that are in place have worked favourably.

Dimapur commissioner of police Rothihu Tetseo said the public response towards the restrictions has been very positive.
