KOHIMA: Nagaland Congress is set to announce names of its candidate from the state for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on Thursday (March 07).

Nagaland Congress president S Supongmeren Jamir disclosed that the party has assessed seven potential candidates for the impending Lok Sabha Elections, slated to be held between April and May.

“We have shortlisted seven candidates, and their names have been forwarded to the national screening committee,” the Nagaland Congress chief stated.

The party is poised to make an official announcement regarding their consensus candidate for the lone Lok Sabha seat on March 07.

Briefing media-persons at Niuland in Nagaland Nagaland Congress president Jamir affirmed the party’s determination to contest the Parliamentary election.

Responding to inquiries regarding potential alliances with other political entities, Jamir indicated that the door for collaboration with the INDIA block, including the Rising Peoples Party and Naga Peoples Front, remains open if the need arises.

“Certainly, we will collaborate,” he affirmed.

Nagaland Congress has encountered several setbacks over the years, failing to secure Nagaland’s lone Lok Sabha seat for two decades and registering consecutive zero results in the last two state assembly elections.
