Nagaland BJP has rubbished the report that it was planning to forge an alliance with the opposition Naga People’s Front (NPF) to form a new government in the state.

This was stated in an official release quoting chief spokesperson of state BJP Kuput Shohe.

Shohe was reacting to a news article, published in some print and electronic media sites, which says that deputy chief minister Y Patton and some senior BJP leaders were forming an alliance with NPF.

Denouncing the report, Shohe said, “As Naga society is going through a critical phase in the political front, such irresponsible reports may even lead to a detrimental law and order situation in the state.”

“The article continued to be circulated despite the state BJP president Temjen Imna Along calling it as a rumour,” Shohe further said in the release.

“Nagaland BJP works solely on the directives of central leaders and maintaining an alliance or re-alliance was not a matter of the state, but the central high command in Delhi,” he further said.

“The present PDA alliance is maintaining transparency and accountability,” Shohe further said.

He also asked all news agencies to maintain their credibility by proper authentication before publishing such news reports.

That communique warned that it would take “any action” if the trend continued.

It reaffirmed the statement made by BJP national general secretary in charge of North East Ram Madhav that the pre-poll agreement with the NDPP was a “gentlemanly one”.

The BJP Nagaland demanded to clarify on the source of the news in which the article stated Ram Madhav’s removal from his aforesaid post and correlating it to a subsequent change of deputy chief minister Y Patton.

The party also demanded the authors of the article to clarify on the alleged meeting of NSCN-IM general secretary Th. Muivah, former chief minister and current leader of Opposition TR Zeliang and deputy chief minister and state BJP Legislature Party leader Y Patton at Camp Hebron on September 24 and the formation of a new government.
