The Nagaland government has directed all the heads of government schools to be in their respective place of posting and attend schools regularly.

In a notification today, Principal Director, Directorate of School Education, Shanavas C said a roster will be prepared and notified so that 50 percent of the teaching and non-teaching staff will attend school on a particular day.

The 50 percent of the staff not attending on any day will work from home and be available on phone or mail for dealing with any urgent school works.

The government directed that the list of teachers not present in their respective place of posting as of July 6 should be submitted to the district education officer (DEO), senior sub-district education officers (SDEO) or sub-district education officers (SDEO) concerned through email on July 7.

The concerned DEO, senior SDEO or SDEO will compile the lists and send the consolidated list to the directorate through email ([email protected]) on or before July 9, the notification said.

The school heads have also been directed to prepare class wise list of students who have not taken admission and submit it to respective DEO, senior SDEO or SDEO on or before July 9.

They have also been directed to contact the parents/guardian of dropout students with the help of teachers, NGOs, student bodies, church leaders and encourage them to admit their children in their classes.

In another notification, the directorate said submission of petitions/representations by the employees of the Education department directly to the higher authorities bypassing the prescribed channel of communication is viewed seriously by the department.

It warned that appropriate disciplinary action will be initiated against those violating the instructions as it amounts to unbecoming conduct attracting the provisions of Rule 4(1)(iii) and Rule 19 of the Nagaland Government Servants Conduct Rules, 1968.
