The Assam Rifles have seized 135 bags of areca nut valued at Rs 45.3 lakh from two trucks at Zubza and Lalmati in Kohima district along National Highway 29 on Thursday.

They seized the contraband during a spot check of vehicles at Zubza and Lalmati.

Assam Rifles public relations officer Lt Col L. Vincent Patton, in a release, on Friday said the contraband was being transported from Manipur to Dimapur in the two trucks.

Three persons were nabbed in this connection.

They were handed over to custom prevention division, Dimapur, along with the seized ganja.
