Prominent Naga intellectual, activist and author Kaka D. Iralu, who passed away at Christian Institute of Health Science and Research here on Thursday night, was laid to rest in Medziphema town on Friday.
He was 64 and leaves behind a son and two daughters.
Iralu is known for the books, “The Naga Saga” and “Nagaland and India: The Blood and The Tear”.
His write-ups on various issues were published in local dailies regularly.
Various organisations on Friday expressed deep shock and mourned Iralu’s death.

The Forum for Naga Reconciliation described his life as an epic, a grand tale of uncompromising Naga spirit. It said in a world of differing stances, Kaka remains undisputed as a voice of Naga rights, the sturdiest of nationalism and the firmest of friends.
The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muiva) called Iralu a man of strong integrity and commitment who voiced for the Naga political movement.
He exercised his intellectual power to defend the sovereign identity of the Naga nation and stood his ground unwavered, it said.
The Federal Government of Nagaland said Iralu’s true sacrifice and patriotic service will always remain alive in the history of Naga nation.
The Naga Hoho said Iralu was a prolific writer, a real Naga patrio, and historian and above all a very humble person.
He was a man with deep knowledge of Naga political history who has authored some iconic books like ‘The Blood and Tears’ and ‘The Naga Saga’.
Kaka D. Iralu was also a bold and outspoken man with genuine convictions and rendered selfless service to the Naga nation till his last breath. He always believed in inalienable rights of the Nagas for sovereignty, the Hoho said.
The Chakhro Angami Kuda Students’ Union and the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union also condoled the demise of Iralu.
