Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia on Sunday said the Hornbill Festival is going to be the most-watched and eagerly awaited festival.
Addressing the gathering as the guest of honour of the fifth day of the 22nd Hornbill Festival at Kisama, near Kohima, Dhulia said he was charmed by the great diversity and culture of Nagaland.
“A glimpse of the rich and colourful heritage of Naga men and women is commendable and admirable,” he said.
He applauded the skills of the Naga men and women folks delivering such vibrant presentations at the festival.
K.V Ramanamurthy, chief general manager, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Noonmati, graced the occasion as the special guest.
During the cultural event in the morning, various tribes, including Pochury, Rengma, Kachari, Garo, Lotha, Ao, Kuki, Zeliang and Rengma cultural troupes, enthralled the audience with their colourful traditional dances and folk songs.
In the afternoon session, cultural dances and folk songs were performed by Lotha, Angami, Chakhesang, Rengma, Sumi and Garo cultural troupes.
On the day, the 4th edition of the indigenous Go Kart race was held in Kohima. The race started at PHQ junction with Old MLA hostel junction as the finish point.
The Nagaland Association for Adventure Mountaineering and Education has set up some thrilling and exciting adventure sports activities for all ages at Children’s Park at Kisama Heritage Village in the ongoing festival.
