The Nagaland government has ordered the reopening of the campuses and holding of regular classes in all the universities, colleges and technical institutions functioning in the state with effect from February 24.

In a notification, chief secretary J Alam asked the institutions to take measures for preventing and containing the spread of COVID19 on reopening for the safety of the students, faculty members and all others concerned.

Alam, in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 22 (2) (b) and Section 22 (2) (h) of the Disaster Management Act 2005, has issued the standard operating procedure (SOP) on the preventive measures to contain the spread of the pandemic for the reopening of these institutions.

He said any violation of the provisions of the SOP will attract action against the management, faculty, employee, student or visitor as the case may be.

The schools in Nagaland, which were closed since March last year due to COVID19 pandemic, reopened from February 8, 2021, for students of Class 6 to 12.

Principal director of school education Shanavas C earlier said both government and private schools have to follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the government to ensure the safety of teachers, students and employees.

Shanavas said in government schools COVID19 kits have been provided to students.

The principal director of school education said “people have welcomed the reopening of schools for students of class 6 and above.”
