The Opposition NPF has termed the present situation in Nagaland as “rudderless” and “paralysed” stating that the state seems most likely to be in an “emergency state of situation”.

Naga People’s Front (NPF) in a release alleged that the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) government neglected all developmental activities and miserably failed in handling the law and order situation in the state.

It said the tall promises of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party-led PDA government of providing good roads to the people seem to be reversing with the worsening road condition all over the state.

It mentioned that the highway between Kohima and Dimapur is in a very hazardous condition.

It recalled that the NPF Legislature Party had written to chief minister Neiphiu Rio and the National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited in the past appealing to them to maintain the existing roads.

“However, the appeal fell on deaf ears and now the High Court has taken up a sou moto case against the delay of work and poor condition of the road,” it said.

“What is the role of the state government if it is not to give good governance to the people of the state?” it questioned.

“The court having to take up sou moto cases when there is a government installed in the state is a case of deep anguish and most pitiable. What is the state government’s excuse to this?” the NPF asked.

The party appreciated the High Court for taking up the sou moto case on the 4-lane highway construction between Kohima and Dimapur and giving direction to the “directionless” PDA government.

“It is a matter of major embarrassment that the state of affairs has come to this point where the court has to intervene,” it said.

“The state government has little or no interest in projects where commission for the CM or ministers is unavailable,” it added.

The party said the CM and his cabinet colleagues should resign on moral grounds as rampant misgovernance is taking place and they have lost all moral authority to continue in office.
