The highly-transmissible Delta variant of COVID-19 has been detected in Nagaland. 

Delta variant has been detected in as many as 93 cases in Nagaland. 

A total of 98 samples from Nagaland were sent for “Whole Genome Sequencing” to the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG) at Kalyani in West Bengal. 

Out of the 98 samples, Delta variant has been found in 93 samples.  

Meanwhile, the Kappa variant has been found in 2 samples. Alpha variant has been detected in 1 sample. 

Results of two more samples are awaited. 

With the detection of the Delta variant of COVID-19 in the State, the Nagaland Health Department has advised the people of the State to “strictly adhere to Covid Appropriate Behaviour and Vaccinate”.
