Nagaland’s Covid19 positive cases rose to 1,239 with the detection of 65 new cases on Friday.
In an update, the directorate of health and family welfare department said of the 65 fresh cases, 32 are from the armed forces, 25 from among returnees, including eight from non-resident technical persons on duty, seven among traced contacts and one frontline worker.
Earlier in his official Twitter handle, health and family welfare minister S Pangnyu Phom tweeted that 63 positive cases of Covid19 were confirmed out of the 372 samples tested.
He said 41 of them are in Dimapur, 21 in Kohima and one in Peren.
With the latest update, the total positive cases stood at 1,239 of which 709 are active while 530 patients recovered.
In partial modification of his earlier order, Dimapur deputy commissioner Anoop Kinchi ordered enforcement of additional lockdown measures in the district for eight days from July 26-August 2.
In an order, Kinchi said the district task force at an emergency meeting in his conference hall on Friday decided to impose additional lockdown measures in order to enhance active surveillance and ensure comprehensive contact tracing, detection of suspected cases and implementation of isolation measures so that the chain of transmission can be slowed down and to contain the spread of Covid-19 infection.
He said all categories of shops, except pharmacies, will remain closed during the period.
Except for medical emergencies, all public movement and movements of all types of vehicles have been prohibited, the order said. However, inter-state and inter-district movement of all the goods vehicles will be allowed with proper safety measures in place.
The functioning of the offices of the district administration, police, security forces and medical and essential service providers like treasury, fire and emergency service, home guards and civil defence, prisons, animal husbandry and veterinary services have been exempted from the purview of lockdown measures
Airport Authority of India and Airlines, district courts, life insurance, PHED, power, NIC, DIPR, food and civil supplies, social welfare, IT &C, municipality/town council, AIR, Doordarshan, Central Institute of Horticulture, Medziphema, ICAR Jharnapani, agri and allied departments, postal services have also been exempted.
Besides, pharmacies, medical clinics, nursing homes, BSNL and private telecom services, internet service providers, media, LPG, banks with minimal staff and ATMs, petroleum outlets, quarantine centres, persons/patients with medical emergencies and those persons involved in authorised Covid-19 related duties are exempted from the purview of the lockdown measures.
