The biggest heavy-lift aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF), C17 Globemaster, on Saturday carried a consignment of critical medical items to hand over to the Nagaland government to combat Covid-19 pandemic.
C17 Globemaster, which has a capacity to carry 70 tons of load, landed with full load at Dimapur Airport on Saturday.
This is the fourth consignment of medical items to be handed over to the state government by different IAF aircraft.

The items were received by adviser to Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) Kazheto Kinimi on behalf of the state government.
He thanked and appreciated the IAF team who under high risk conditions is continuously supporting the Nagaland government in the fight against the global pandemic.
Such pro-active preparedness and cohesive coordination and cooperation by various multiple nodal agencies was the need of the hour, considering the difficult terrain and inherent connectivity issue faced by the Naga people, Kinimi said.
He said the NSDMA has been able to take adequate targeted mitigation measures because of the support of the Centre to the state government and the Naga public’s collective efforts
Western Sumi Hoho serves lunch to frontline workers
The Western Sumi Hoho served lunch to all the frontline workers fighting against the Covid-19 pandemic at Dimapur on Saturday.
Hoho president Dr Kakheto Zhimomi lauded the Covid-19 frontline workers of Dimapur district for working tirelessly in the fight against Covid-19.
Zhimomi said Nagaland has not reported a single positive case so far.
“This is all because of your sacrifices by sealing all the borders and disciplining the people in maintaining social distance despite so much difficulty,” Zhimomi said during a brief programme held at the office premises of the Dimapur commissioner of police.
Dimapur deputy commissioner Anoop Kinchi appreciated the Western Sumi Hoho and said such a gesture would motivate the frontline workers to work even harder.
Commissioner of police Rothihu Tetseo acknowledged the Western Sumi Hoho and other NGOs for their moral, physical and prayer support.
Relief materials distributed
Business with Purpose, a company that conducts tent-making workshops for business aspirants in the Northeast, in partnership with IMPACT Ministry, Dimapur, provided relief materials to about 28 families in Notun Bosti area here on Saturday.
“We are doing what we can to bring succor in the lives of people who are suffering because of the lockdown imposed by the government to stop the spread of Covid-19,” executive director, IMPACT Ministry, Senti Longkumer, said.
Meanwhile, the 9th Kohima Town Assembly constituency unit of NPF under the leadership of Dr Tseilhoutuo Rhutso on Saturday distributed food items to the poor and needy people in the colonies and wards under Kohima town.
Appreciating everyone for strictly adhering to the call of the lockdown, Rhutso said there are many people who are in want of food for their survival during this period.
