Nagaland Police to take legal action against the newly-wed son of NSCN-U’s kilo kilonser (home minister), Bohoto Kiba and the bride, who brandished assault rifles during their wedding ceremony.
The Nagaland director general of police (DGP), T. John Longkumer, has reportedly instructed the commissioner of police, Dimapur to take action against the couple.
The photographs and video of the son of NSCN-U minister and the bride seen with automatic rifles – AK 56 and M16 – during the wedding ceremony went viral on Nagaland WhatsApp groups besides social and digital media.
The couple got married at 5th Mile in Dimapur on Saturday.

The blatant display of weapons, which has taken place in the rundown a final agreement likely to be signed between the Naga insurgent groups including the NSCN-IM and the Centre, drew flak from various quarters.
An Indian Express report quoted Nagaland DGP Longkumer as saying: “We know about (photographs of) the bride and the groom. I have instructed the Commissioner of Police to take legal action. He will report back to me soon.”
However, the police commissioner of Dimapur, R. Tetseo, was not available for comments.
It has been reported that police have started investigation into the case and would take action soon.
Bohoto Kiba, a powerful Naga insurgent leader, is no stranger to controversies, especially for threatening journalists.
He reportedly threatened to shoot members of the press if they continue to use ‘self-styled’ or ‘ss’ before their designations.
The 22-year-long peace dialogue between the NSCN-IM and the government of India concluded recently with the Centre “resolving” the contentious issues.

Before the signing of the final agreement, most of the Naga organizations and the negotiators have appealed to join hands so that peace returns permanently to Nagaland.

The NSCN-U was formed on November 23, 2007 with an inter-factional ‘truce agreement’ signed between the few cadres and leaders of the NSCN-IM and the NSCN-K at Hovishe under Niuland sub-division in Dimapur district.
Sharing the news published in the digital media, a Twitteratti said: “…Ironically, the group is in peace talk with Centre. Who gives them the authority to possess such weapons?”
