The Kohima battalion of Assam Rifles apprehended two NDFB (Sangbijit) cadres, self-styled ‘lance corporal’ Biki Basumatary (28) of Gohpur under Sonitpur district and Nerswn Narzary (18) of Dungang Fakriguri village under Kokrajhar district of Assam, from BOC area in Kohima on Wednesday, an Assam Rifles release said on Thursday.

The release said based on specific information, the Assam rifles launched an operation and apprehended the duo. Mobile phones and Korean currency note of 1,000 were recovered from their possession.

During interrogation, Biki revealed that he had infiltrated to Myanmar in 2014 and underwent three years training in Thulu camp of NDFB (S). He recently moved to D’ Block area in Kohima. He had come to Kohima with specific direction from his hierarchy for recruitment of new cadres and also to act as a linkman between NSCN (K) and NDFB (S), the release stated.

He was further instructed to facilitate movement of cadres from Assam to Myanmar through Kohima. The two militants were handed over to Kohima police for further investigation.
