The NSCN-IM on Tuesday alleged that “high handed actions” of Assam Rifles against the outfit has been plotted by Cease Fire Monitoring Group (CFMG) chairman Lt. Gen. (retd.) Shokin Chauhan.
NSCN(IM) has raised strong objection to such actions of Assam Rifles as a final agreement is likely to be signed between the Naga insurgent groups including the NSCN-IM and the Centre.
The ministry of ministry of information and publicity of the NSCN (IM) issued a statement alleging that the 5 Assam Rifles raided the rented the houses of NSCN members at Kuda village (Nagarjan) and NST colony (City Tower) areas in Dimapur on Tuesday and arrested of one Ninghor from NST colony.
The release said it was unfortunate that this incident took place despite the cease fire monitoring cell of NSCN having intimated the CFMG chairman to establish a corrective measure from his end and the Indian armed personnel after the Kohima and other incidents of cease fire ground rules violations allegedly committed by the Indian security forces against NSCN members.
It said the Assam Rifles’ grudge against NSCN is an “open secret as testified in numerous incidents”.
It also alleged that the Assam Rifles has been emboldened to go against the NSCN following the CFMG chairman’s communication to the joint secretary of the Union ministry of home affairs on October 30 regarding closure of messes/offices of Naga political groups which is strongly objected by the outfit.
According to the outfit, the answer to what sinister plot was hatched between the Assam Rifles and CFMG chairman following this communication lies with the latter.
The release asked what the damning hurry for the Assam Rifles is to go after the NSCN when the final touches are being worked out to solve the Naga political issue.
“The answer lies with the CFMG chairman,” the outfit said.
It said these actions of the Assam Rifles have seriously put at stake the sincerity of the talks between the NSCN and the government of India. “Is it the policy to chase the Nagas away further?” it questioned.
