Nagaland is all set to prepare a list of the indigenous dwellers of the State from July 10.
The list will be named as Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN) and is being planned to be completed by September 11.

This was revealed by Nagaland’s Home Commissioner R Ramakrishnan on Saturday.
The purpose of preparing RIIN is to stop issuing Indigenous Inhabitant Certificate (IIC) to people who does not hail from the State.

To carry out this vast operation, designated survey teams will visit each village and ward in the State and prepare a list of inhabitants residing there along with their details of official records such as voter ID, PAN number, Aadhasr number etc.
After the survey is finished, provisional lists of the indigenous inhabitants of the State will be published in villages and wards and on websites of each district of the State by September 11.

The process of filing of claims and objections will be finished by October 10.
The deputy commissioner (DC) of each district will then settle claims and objections based on the official records produced by the concerned person.
During the process of hearing of claim and objections, if a person is found to be an indigenous inhabitant of the State, he will be given a unique ID.

The final list of the indigenous inhabitants of the State will be published by December 10. After the final list is published, no fresh IICs will be issued.
However, the children born to the indigenous inhabitants of the State will only be issued fresh IICs along with birth certificates.
The RIIN database will be updated every five years.
RIIN will be prepared with the same motive as the NRC of Assam.
