Nagaland to host Northeast Games 2024 from March 18

Dimapur: Nagaland will host the six-day Northeast Games 2024 from March 18.

This is one of the biggest sporting events to be hosted by Nagaland where players from all northeastern states will compete in 15 disciplines.

To be hosted in partnership with the Nagaland Olympic Association with the state youth resources department, the tournament stands as a significant platform to celebrate and promote the rich sporting culture of the region.

It is also an endeavour aimed at fostering unity and solidarity among the North East states, the Nagaland Olympic Association said.

In the run-up to the preparations, the hosting venues will conduct practice sessions, rehearsals and sound checks for the various events including the opening and closing ceremonies.

There will also be cultural performances and featured shows every evening during the entire duration of the games.

Meanwhile, the North East Sports Association announces the schedule and venues for the games. The games will commence with an opening ceremony at 7 pm on March 18 at the Games Village, Regional Centre for Sporting Excellence in Chümoukedim, promising a spectacular start to this celebration of athleticism and sportsmanship.

The games will be held in three districts Chomoukedima, Dimapur and Kohima. The main events will be held at the Regional Center

For Sporting Excellence in the Chumoukedima district, athletics will be held in Kohima and lawn tennis at Kuda village in the Dimapur district. Football and archery will take place at the Chumukedima police complex.

The Northeast Games 2024 will conclude with a closing function at the Games Village at 7 pm on March 23 where athletes will be honoured for their performances and commitment to the spirit of fair play.
