Easter Sunday was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across Nagaland.

Besides the special programmes on Sunday devotional services, the day was observed by undertaking several activities such as midnight vigil as well as sunrise services in many churches.

Enactments of the Christ’s resurrection and Baptism of new members were highlights of the day in many churches.

In state capital Kohima, believers thronged the World War II Cemetery Kohima for Easter Sunday Sunrise Service conducted under the aegis of Kohima Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship (KBPF), according to reports.

Easter Sunday signifies the resurrection of Jesus Christ, one of the major observances of Christians across the world.

Chairman of Kohima Village Council, Dr Neiphi Kire extended Easter greetings on the occasion while Kohima Town Baptist Women Union and youths from Nagamese Baptist Churches Kohima Areas presented message in songs, it added.

Earlier, the Governor of Nagaland, P B Acharya and Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio extended Easter greetings to the people of the State.
