The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) announced to launch indefinite agitation in all the four districts of eastern Nagaland from Thursday, seeking solution to its three-point charter of demands.
The federation at an emergency meeting took the decision after the state government allegedly failed to address its grievances during a meeting held at chief secretary Temjen Toy’s conference room in Kohima on Tuesday.
This was stated by ENSF vice-president Hamnyei Angh and assistant general secretary Kumcho Khiungpuh in a release on Wednesday.

The three-point charter of demands of the federation include extension of age relaxation for the six tribes of eastern Nagaland in acquiring professional qualifications, setting up of adequate number of BEd colleges and DIET institutions in the four districts of eastern Nagaland.
The ENSF rued that the government had failed to meet its demands despite several representations.
The federation said it had patiently waited after submitting the representations to the government and again served a reminder. With no response forthcoming, the federation said it submitted an ultimatum on June 3.
The release said the federation, in good faith, had even agreed to the state government’s appeal to keep the ultimatum in abeyance in the hope that an amicable solution would come out at the meeting with the government.
Expressing its shock at the “nature” of the government, the federation alleged that instead of addressing the problems after repeatedly being served with representations, reminders and an ultimatum, there was no response.
Under the circumstances, the federation said it had decided to go for an indefinite strike. It warned to continue the strike until the demands are met.
