In a latest political development in Nagaland, the state unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) consisting 634 members merged with Naga People’s Front (NPF) in Kohima on Monday.
While welcoming the AAP members, NPF president Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu termed the merger as a ‘historic event’ and said that the joining of AAP members would strengthen the opposition party.
He also lauded the state AAP leaders for their decision to merge with NPF for fighting together in the State’s and national interest.
Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu asserted that NPF’s priority was to bring the Naga political issue to an honourable solution and that the party was only a facilitator to bring together NNPGs and the Union Government.
Former AAP convener Dr S Amos Longkumer said that the decision to merge with NPF was unanimously agreed upon by all the members after a thorough analysis and proper consultations.
Longkumer further asserted that they had joined the regional party to work together for the growth of Naga community.
He also said that the AAP members sought to work together with NPF for better transformation of the society and achieving sustainable growth for the Naga society.
Speaking on the occasion, former AAP spokesperson Dr Lemwang Chuhwanglim assured to work with commitment and determination for the society.
Notably, an AAP member had joined the Congress earlier in the month of September.
