Leader of opposition in the tenth Meghalaya Assembly, Mukul Sangma has resigned as MLA of Ampati, the seat he held since 1993.
The former chief minister who was elected from both Ampati and Songsak in the February 27 Assembly polls, has chosen to leave Ampati.
Mukul Sangma handed over the resignation letter to Assembly Speaker Dr Donkupar Roy in Assembly here on Friday.
His wife Dikkanchi D Shira and other Congress legislators accompanied the former chief minister to the Speaker’s chamber when he submitted the resignation letter.
