Congress party’s leader in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, lashing out at the Centre on Saturday, said Shramik special trains have become “death parlours” for the migrant workers.

“The Narendra Modi-led Central government has completely failed to address the problems faced by the migrant workers,” Chowdhury further said while speaking at E-Agenda Aaj Tak.

“The government should have declared the lockdown much earlier. It waited till the time it was able to topple the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh,” he further alleged.

“The first COVID-19 case reported in January in India and the government should have stopped international flights from February itself. But it did nothing,” he said.

Speaking on the first anniversary of Narendra Modi’s second term, he said, “Modi government 2.0 has been a complete failure. The government is trying to cover its mistakes.”

He also said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been warning the government to get cautious about coronavirus.

“The government, however, ignored every warning of the opposition. Had it listened to Rahul Gandhi earlier, the situation would have been much different today,” he added.
