Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga on Thursday called on his Manipur counterpart N Biren Singh at the latter’s residence in Manipur’s capital Imphal, official sources said.

Both the leaders discussed a wide range of issues, including development and peace initiatives.

During the interaction, the duo talked about the need to end insurgency problem in Manipur to restore peace for usher in in development.

Zoramthanga informed Singh that he has been invited by the Centre to broker peace with insurgent groups in the Northeast.

As regard Inner Line Permit, Zoramthanga also asked his Manipur counterpart not to cause inconvenience to the Mizos as the Zo communities of both states share same culture and visit each others frequently.

Both the leaders also talked about the need for protecting different cultures and traditions and strengthening brotherhood among various communities and language groups.

Among others, the two leaders also discussed about economy, sir and bus service between Mizoram and Manipur, protection of different cultures and also strengthening of brotherhood among different communities.
