The Mizoram Government has extended the existing lockdown like restrictions in Aizawl and 10 others district headquarters for another 7 days to break chain of COVID-19 transmission and to expedite contact tracing.
The existing partial lockdown was scheduled to be lifted on Monday at 4 am.
The order issued by the Mizoram government stated that the existing restriction was extended for seven days and the guidelines with slight modification will remain in force till 4 am of May 3.
“Considering the extant guidelines laid down for the prevention and containment of the disease outbreak vis-à-vis the trend of the disease transmission and the case detection rate, it is also the considered view of the competent authority to continue with the current restrictions on people’s movement and activities, except essential services, for expeditious and efficient testing, tracking and treatment of COVID-19 positive patients and to scale up immunization,” the order.

The guidelines issued along with the order, said that people in the state capital and other district headquarters should not step out of their homes and no vehicles should ply during the restrict period barring those exempted.
However, Lengpui airport and inter-state border will be opened and intra-state movement is also allowed.
Apart from pharmacies, shops selling essential commodities, eateries, vegetables, meat, construction materials and spare parts in the state capital and district headquarters are allowed to open based on arrangement made by local leaders and volunteers like Local Level Task Force (LLTF)or Village Level Task Force (VLTF), it said.
Besides, filing stations, motor workshops, cold storage and warehousing, data and call centres, carpentry workshops, steel fabrication workshops, bakeries, tailoring shops, weaving shops and other related shops are also allowed to be open.
All religious places, educational institutions, public parks, picnic spots, movie theatres, gymnasiums, community halls, restaurants, shopping complexes, malls and any other amusement places will be closed in all parts of the state.

Any public gathering which does not come under exemption are banned in all parts of the state.
The existing night curfew in Aizawl and 10 others district headquarters from 8:30 pm to 4 will continue.
Mizoram on Sunday reported 105 new COVID-19 cases, which was the highest single-day spike in this year.
The number of total Covid-19 cases now stands at 5,388, of which 704 are active.
At least 4,671 people have recovered from the infection.
The COVID-19 death toll in the state is 13.
