Mizoram on Friday reported 1055 new Covid-19 cases at an infection rate of 10.77 per cent, pushing the state’s tally to 69026, a health department official said. 

This is the fourth consecutive day since September 7 where the state reported Covid-19 cases of above 1,000 in a single day, he said. 

The state also reported one more Covid-19 fatality in the last 24 hours, which took the death toll to 231, he said. 

The fresh cases were reported from various districts with Aizawl reporting the highest cases at 570, followed by Lawngtlai at 115 and Kolasib at 96, he said.

91 fresh cases were confirmed at RT-PCR laboratory in Zoram Medical College (ZMC), 56 cases were detected through TrueNat tests, 888 through Rapid Antigen Test and 20 others were detected through FIA (Fluorescent Immunoassay) tests, he said. 

At least 185 children and two healthcare frontline workers were among the newly infected people, he said. 

Two patients have travel history and the rest 1,053 were found to have contracted the infection locally, he said. 

The number of Covid-19 active cases now stands at 12,440 and 56,355 people have recovered from the infection, including 917 on Thursday.

The recovery rate among Covid-19 patients is 81.64 per cent and the death rate is 0.33 per cent. 

The state has tested more than 9.49 lakh samples for Covid-19, including 9,799samples on Thursday. 

According to state immunisation officer Dr Lalzawmi, over 6.62 lakh people have been vaccinated, of which 2.87 lakh have received full doses till Thursday.
