Mizoram minister of state for health and family welfare Dr R Lalthangliana on Monday laid foundation stone for construction of Rs 300 lakh Mizoram State Drug Testing Laboratory building at Mizoram New Capital Complex (MINECO).

Speaking at the occasion, the minister highlighted the importance of having State Drug Testing Laboratory.

He said once it is completed, we will be able to test not only medicines but food items imported from outside the State.

He also said the hassle of sending food and medicine samples to Guwahati for testing which is also time consuming, will be a thing of the past.

Mizoram Technocrats Company Pvt Ltd has been selected to construct Mizoram State Drug Testing Laboratory building, which is located near Mizoram Pollution Control Board (MPCB), and will be completed within 18 months.

Dr Z R Thiamsanga, MLA, vice-chairman, Health & Family Welfare Board and important officials from Health & Family Welfare Department were present at the event.
