Mizoram on Wednesday reported the first COVID-19 death of the state, a health official said.
The official informed that a 62-year-old man succumbed to the disease at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) near Aizawl.
The patient was confirmed dead at 12 noon on Wednesday, said ZMC medical superintendent Dr H.C Laldina.
The deceased was undergoing treatment since the last 10 days at ZMC, Mizoram’s lone dedicated COVID-19 hospital.
The patient, who belonged to a locality of Aizawl, also was a heart patient.
It may be mentioned here that Mizoram reported its first COVID-19 case on March 24.
The patient was a 52-year-old pastor, who had a travel history to the Netherlands.
