A total of 7 Executive Members (EMs) of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) of the new Executive Committee, headed by CEM Rasik Mohan Chakma, took oath on Wednesday.
The EMs were sworn in a function held at the council’s Art & Culture Hall in Kamalanagar.
The MDCs, who took oath on Wednesday were H. Amaresh Chakma of 6-Kamalanagar South constituency, Amit Kumar Chakma of 15-Rengkashya constituency and Lakkhan Chakma of 17-Jaruldubosora constituency.
The other MDCs who also took oath were Ajoy Kumar Chakma of 8-Udalthana constituency, Onish Moy Chakma of 10-Mandirasora constituency, Charan Singh Chakma of 9-Ugudasury South constituency and Kusum Lota Chakma of 2-Borapansury-II constituency.
The previous Executive Committee, headed by Durjya Dhan Chakma, was dissolved upon his resignation from the office of CEM on October 3, which necessitated the reconstitution of the Executive Committee afresh.
On the same day itself, Rasik Mohan Chakma, after being elected the new leader of the CADC MNF Legislature Party staked claim to be appointed as the CEM of the council.
He assumed office on October 14 and recommended the names of the 7 MDCs for induction in the new Executive Committee.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, Rasik Mohan Chakma hailed the MNF government in CADC to be the embodiment of achievement, development, good governance and rule of law while assuring to uphold these practices under his leadership.
He added that the MNF government in CADC never compromised the interest of the people and that of CADC.
“The past track record of the party is testimony of my claim,” he said.

The CEM urged his colleague members to dedicate their service to the welfare of the people.
He recalled Gandhi’s thought – “Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much, recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man/woman whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him/her.”
