Easter Sunday, which marks the victory of Christ over death after his crucifixion has been celebrated in all parts of Mizoram with strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols.

Special prayers and worship services were held at all churches of different denominations.

The Eastern Sunday celebration began on Saturday night with Catholic Church members holding Easter vigil to mark the beginning of the celebration.

The Aizwal residents began their day by listening to the hymn “He’s arisen” played by band parties of different corps of the Salvation Army.

In rural villages, children came out to the streets singing hymns and shouting the slogan “He is arisen”  to mark the beginning of Easter Sunday.

Sunrise services were organized by the youth wings of both the Presbyterian and the Baptist Churches in their respective local churches.

Preachers of different churches preached sermons on the resurrection of Christ.

Last year, Easter Sunday was celebrated behind closed doors due to the coronavirus induced nation-wide lockdown.

Meanwhile, Lunglei Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles celebrated Easter Sunday at Salem Veng Baptist Church in Lunglei.

A total of 148 locals and 42 Assam Rifles personnel attended the event which included a cake cutting ceremony followed by refreshments.
