The BJP district committee of Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) on Wednesday staged a protest against the alleged financial mismanagement and maladministration in the CADC, headed by Rasik Mohan Chakma.
The demonstration was held at Kamalanagar near the council secretariat building, according to the statement issued by the BJP.
A memorandum has also been submitted to the state governor, demanding the constitution of an Inquiry Commission to probe into the corruptions and irregularities committed by the Executive Committee of the CADC, the statement said.
Addressing the demonstration, former minister and National Council Member of BJP Mizoram Pradesh Nirupam Chakma accused the Executive Committee of the council headed by Rasik Mohan Chakma of indulging in the same corruptions and irregularities, which he had protested when MNF was in opposition bench in the council.
He alleged that the present Executive Committee of the CADC has crossed all the limits and made the council completely lawless.
Chakma stated that the council budget was a mere salary budget as over 93% of it is meant for salaries to the employees and no adequate funds were kept for developmental works for the general public.

The present Executive Committee of CADC is facing an acute financial crisis having more than Rs. 28 crore deficit as reflected in the budget speech of 2021-2022 fiscal and that is why the Executive Committee is not in a position to fill such huge numbers of vacancies and to make new appointments, he said.
He further said the present situation in CADC demands an immediate Inquiry Commission under the provision of Paragraph 14 of the Sixth Scheduled to the Constitution of India to inquire into the financial mismanagement and maladministration of the Executive Committees since February 2019 to till date.

The BJP leader also said that the issue of illegal appointments in the council is becoming bigger day by day.
He alleged that successive Executive Committees of the CADC gave undue favour to their wives, sons, daughters and daughters-in-law in terms of employment and as a result, all competent and eligible youths were deprived of employment.
Such corrupt practice needs to be stopped once for all and there is an ardent need to constitute an Independent Recruitment Board in the council so that recruitment processes are conducted in a free and fair manner, he said.
