An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 on the Richter scale hit Mizoram 98 km south-east of Champhai at around 7:29 pm on Thursday.
Till the filing of this report, there has been no report of any damage.
It may be mentioned here that the entire northeast region falls in a high seismic zone.
Earthquakes in this region are frequent.
Reportedly, over the past few weeks, several earthquakes have been recorded in Delhi and Gujarat.
