Mizoram on Monday reported 23.40 per cent single-day positivity rate of COVID-19 as 152 people out of 650 samples tested have come out positive for the infection in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s tally to 1,41,901, a health department official said.

The single-day positivity rate was usually high because only suspected people were tested for COVID-19, he said.

The death toll remains at 546 as no new fatality was reported in the last 24  hours, he said.

The number of fresh cases reported on Monday was 68 more than the previous day,  he said.

Aizawl district reported the highest number of fresh cases at 56, followed by Serchhip district (39) and  Mamit (29), he said.

The number of active cases now stands at 1,732, while 135 people have recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 1,39,623, he said.

The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients is 98.39 per cent and the death rate is 0.38 per cent.

The state has so far tested 15,09,468 samples for COVID-19, the official said.

Over 7.30 lakh people have been inoculated and 5.89 lakh of them have received full dose so far, state immunisation officer Dr Lalzawmi said.
