AIZAWL: The Centre has assured Mizoram in its operation for Vision 2036 Olympics, an official statement said.
Sports Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar called on Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya at the latter’s residence in New Delhi on Saturday and both leaders discussed issues concerning the development of sports in Mizoram, the statement said.
During the meeting, Mandaviya told Hmar that the Centre will take steps to promote and develop sports in the country as well as Mizoram.
He also said that the Centre will extend help to the state in its preparation for the Olympics.
Both leaders also reviewed future plans for Mizoram under the Sports Ministry, particularly the Khelo India scheme.
Hmar informed the Union Minister that Mizo youths have good talents in sports.
Despite being a small state, it was able to produce many well-known sports persons both at the national and international level, he said.
