The Lunglei battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles has provided assisted in clearing a stretch of the Aizawl – Lunglei Road at Hmuifang in Mizora’s Aizawl district that was blocked due to a landslide in the area.

Incessant rains had led to the landslide, thereby blocking the Aizawl – Lunglei Road that can be considered the lifeline of Lunglei and and Lawngtlai districts of Mizoram.

Soon after the landslide the Assam Rifles troops reached the spot and extended their assistance locals and the district administration in clearing the blocked road.

The Aizawl battalion of Assam Rifles also rescued two persons from the site of an accident in Durtlang Hills of Aizawl recently.

The accident had occurred on the night of June 6 when a four-wheeler reportedly toppled down the Durtlang hillside after the driver had lost control.

The medical team of Assam Rifles also arrived on the spot and provided first-aid treatment to the victims, following which they were able to return to their residences
