The Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles has tried to reach out to the Veer Naris (widows of armed forces personnel) in Mizoram’s Serchhip district by providing them with essential commodities to support their families.

The Assam Rifles also offers assistance to families of soldiers killed during war to help them cope during trying times like the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

A team of Assam Rifles jawans visited the families of Veer Naris Juliet Zongmawii and Laldengi and handed over essential commodities to them to meet their daily requirements.

Both Zongmawii and Laldengi are residents of New Serchhip.

The Assam Rifles personnel also assured the women of their continuous support whenever they required.

On the other hand, the Lunglei Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles conducted an Ex-serviceman Rally for the retired armed forces veterans and retired Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel at Tuipang in Siaha district.

The grievances of ex-servicemen were also addressed and proper documentation was ensured for the same.

The Assam Rifles organizes such programmes to reach out to veterans and sensitize them on the latest government policies and facilities provided to them by the central and state governments.

A total 16 ex-servicemen were felicitated during the occasion.
