The Mizoram government this time is determined to go ahead with the repatriation process of over 33,000 Reang (Bru) refugees presently lodged in six relief camps of North Tripura district for last 22 years.

A high level team of officials is expected to visit the camps at Casco, Kahkchand, Hamchapara, Ashapara, Naishingpara and Gachimapara in Kanchanpur and Panisagar sub-divisions of Tripura to initiate the process of repatriation.
The officials of Mizoram Government have already held two rounds of meeting in the headquarters of Kolashib and Mamith districts to draw a final roadmap to bring back all the refugees.
Apart from the district magistrates of both the districts, additional secretary of Home was also present in the meetings, state reports.
The meetings have decided to complete the repatriation process by this year, the process to start in October, and a detailed road map also was finalized in the meetings.
It was also decided to send a sizeable team of officials to visit the camps and discuss with their Tripura counterparts to facilitate the repatriation of the refugees.
Notably, despite several attempts earlier, both from the Centre and the Mizoram government, the repatriation process failed to take off on every occasion due to hostile and adamant stance of the Bru refugee leaders.
