In a shameful act, a minor girl in Dibrugarh has been impregnated by her grandfather. Dibrugarh police on Friday arrested Tridib Bora (57) for allegedly raping his minor granddaughter resulting in her pregnancy.
According to police, the 14-year old girl was taken for medical checkup after her health condition deteriorated. After her check up doctor found that she was pregnant.
“When her parents asked her about the incident, the minor girl revealed that her grandfather allegedly raped her some four months back at their residence at Maijan, Natun Gaon. The victim’s parents then filed an FIR and we arrested the accused,” police sources told Northeast Now.
“She has been frequently vomiting for past few weeks and today we have taken her to medical centre for her medical checkup and after examining her doctor told us that she was pregnant. She revealed that she was raped by her grandfather,” victim’s father said.
According to source, the accused runs an illegal liquor shop at Natun Gaon area.
Local residents gheraoed the Dibrugarh police station for an hour and demanded capital punishment to the accused.
“It’s a great shame for us because crimes against minor are rising alarmingly. We demanded capital punishment of the accused,” a local resident of Natun Gaon told Northeast Now.
On May 18, a 13-year old minor was allegedly molested by her teacher inside the school in Moran. The girl was a student of Nehru Hindi Vidyalaya, Moranhat.
